Physical Description: Dusky or Weddell’s Conures are smaller than the Sun Conures. They are approximately 10-12 inches from beak to the tip of the tail. This long-tailed species is generally green in color. The head is grey-brown. They have a blue-tipped tail and the flight feathers – (typically only visible in flight) which are dark gray when seen from below, and mainly blue from above. They have a black bill and a white or light yellow eye ring or “sock”. They tend to have very affectionate personalities and are a good bird for children.

Average Lifespan: up to 30 years with the average being 15-20

Sexing: Sexing these birds requires a DNA test, as they are not sexually dimorphic and you cannot tell the sex just by looking at them.

Origin: South America— Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru

More Information: Dusky Conures are around 10 to 11 inches or 25-28 cm long (from beak to tip of tail) and weigh around 90-100 grams. They are sligtly smaller than the sun conures. Duskys are an affectionate and clever parrot. They have a lot of energy and love to be out with the family. They are fun loving and friendly parrot and love to be cuddled and handled. They are not noted for their talking ability but can communicate with their humans in their own special way.
